The Piedmont Pride maintain their lead in the Southern Collegiate Baseball League with a 4-3 win over the Charlotte Crushers at York Comprehensive High School
With the win the Red and Blue move to 24-9 overall.
The Pride picked up 1 run in the 1st, 3rd, 6th, and 7th innings, while Colby Stuart pitched a gem allowing 0 runs and only 5 hits, while picking up 8 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. Stuart improves to 6-0 with a 0.90 ERA.
The Crushers tried to make a comeback in the top of the 9th, plating 3 runs on 2 hits, but Ethan Martinez recorded 3 straight outs with the bases loaded to preserve the win and earn his 3rd save of the season.
Richard de la Cruz was a home run away from hitting for the cycle, while reaching base during all 4 plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with a walk and 2 RBIs.
Andrew Judkins went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and 2 runs in the win.
The Pride are back in action Monday night at York Comprehensive High School against the Carolina Vipers. First Pitch is at 7:00.
