Being able to come on this trip for the second time has been amazing. Summer baseball allows people from all over the country to come together and become best friends throughout the short time they are with each other. Pride baseball creates a unique experience for us and we create friendships through baseball and our faith. I was blessed with the opportunity to play in this organization and it has helped me grow as a man, in my faith, and as a baseball player. Today we went to Hogar del Nino to spend time with 3-5 year olds. We played games and danced with them until we were ready to fall over. The kids then got in a circle and we painted their faces. They returned the favor and covered our faces with paint. After lunch, we went to the market in downtown Santo Domingo. We were able to visit the gift shops and I learned how to negotiate prices a little better with the vendors. Later that afternoon, we visited Richard’s family in Santo Domingo. I was able to meet his family last year and was blown away by their hospitality and generosity as they fed and kept us company. It shows how universal the Christian faith is and how recognizable the Christian faith is. This trip is able to show me different things that I experienced from the previous year and really understand the joy the people here show. I will always remember the trips I took with the Pride to the Dominican and the relationships I have built on this team and with the people.
