Kingsmen Win Slugfest over Joanna

June 23, 2026

YORK, S.C. — The Kingsmen won a back-and-forth affair on Tuesday, outlasting the Joanna Hornets in a 7-5 victory.

The Kingsmen had not been on the field in six days, but they got rolling quickly. After falling behind by two runs early, they battled back for four in the second. Mason Ritzema, Davis Anders, Christian Burney, and Riley Darby had hits in the big inning.

Ben France started on the mound, working through the first two innings. Nick Osborne reliving him in the third, pitching the Kingsmen through five.

“We pitched pretty well,” said Coach Joe Hudak. “I think Ben France, when he’s up in the zone he may get hurt. But when he gets his pitches down he’s pretty effective.”

“I think the key to the game was Nick Osborne,” he continued. “He gave us a chance to win the game.”

The Kingsmen never trailed once they took their second inning lead. After Joanna tied it in the third, the Kingsmen took back over in the fourth and led the rest of the way. Tristan Harless came into the ballgame and got the job done, earning the save despite giving up an unearned run.

The win is the Kingsmen’s eighth. They are back in action Wednesday, facing off with the Catawba Valley Stars in a 6:30 battle.
