School: Kingsmen Baseball Academy
Position: Outfielder/Pitcher
1st Year Kingsmen Player
“This was my second time in the D.R. and this trip was just as special as when I came with the academy in January.
We have visited both a girls and boys orphanage, a school, Kike’s home village, and played 4 games. My favorite part of the summer D.R. Trip was the boys orphanage. Just seeing the kids smile and be so happy warmed my heart and made me feel so good. At the boys orphanage we played soccer, basketball and just hung out with the boys. They were all very sweet and kind and wanted to hangout with us. One boy asked me to come to a empty goal and be a goalie.
Then he told me to wait and went and grabbed a team mate to guard him while I was a goalie. One boy asked to be on my shoulders and I carried him around for 10 minutes and I felt so bad when I had to take him off my shoulders. At Kike’s village, we prayed over the residents and handed out food bags. I got to pray over a sweet lady who had just gotten to the D.R. from Haiti and she asked me to pray over her family so that they could one day be reunited. When we visited the school we got our faces painted as well as played with the kids. The school was my second favorite place we visited this week because of how much pure joy those kids had while we were there. They were all a little nervous and shy at the beginning but we went up to a few groups of them and I handed one kid my paint and brush to paint my face and his face lit up with a smile. We have played 3 games thus far on this trip and are currently 3-0, but it’s not about the games. It’s about the words that my coaches say after the games I believe have truly helped my opponent on the field on their walk with Christ. This D.R. trip has helped me in many ways mentally, physically and spiritually. I believe that everyone should experience a trip like this at least once in their life.”
