“This is my second summer with the Kingsmen. I enjoyed last summer so much that it was an easy decision to come back for year 2. Our mission trip to the DR is so special. One of my favorite aspects of the trip is our interactions with the people here. Today, our main interaction took place at a Dominican church that we visited.
It was an amazing service with a powerful message. The worship was amazing and super passionate. There was a special moment where the lead singer sang one of the songs in English for us. Everything was in Spanish, but she practiced and prepared to perform that song for us in English to help us feel included and allow us the opportunity to worship with them. It was really powerful and extremely generous by her. The message from the pastor was very urgent. He spoke all Spanish, however Google Translate and the internet were a big help for us today. He talked about how urgent we need to be in our walk with Christ. It isn’t something that we should play around with, procrastinate, be lazy, or take for granted. He mentioned the recent natural disasters in the world that have caused some fatalities, and he reminded us that those same people woke up and treated it like a normal day, just like we did today. It was an amazing reminder and an eye opening message that reminded us that we never know our last day and we need to continue to serve Christ to the best of our abilities with every opportunity we have. This trip has been life changing already, and we still have a week left! Can’t wait to see what else the Lord has in store for us!”
