“This is my second time coming to the Dominican Republic, and both times we came the best part of the trip is the girls orphanage. This trip has opened my eyes to a lot of things like being grateful for what I have and to always give life my all no matter what challenges or obstacles I may face. The people in the Dominican are some of the kindest, most caring, and happiest people you’ll ever meet. Even though they don’t have much, they’re always grateful for what they have and they’re willing to look out for each other and you. During our game at San Pedro one of the little kids asked me if I wanted some of his food during our game. That stuck with me because we didn’t know each other and he was willing to share his food with me, a complete stranger. Today, July 13 we played in Boca de Chavon. This was a shocking experience because the field was in the middle of a village and it had no fences. That was by far the most fun I’ve had in a game. There was loud music the whole game and our dugout was in the stands with the fans. Afterwards, we went to Hogar del Niño and played with the kids there and for the first time I got my legs, face, and arms painted. It was really cool to see Nick and Gino get their entire face painted including eyes, hair, and ears. I had so much fun at the game in Boca de Chavon and the day care and I can’t wait to have more fun with my teammates and serving the Lord the rest of our trip. I’m very thankful to Coach Hudak for giving me the opportunity to play with the college team and I can’t wait to come back during the Academy season!”
