June 3, 2019

The Piedmont Kingsmen Baseball team dropped the first of six games this summer to the Mooresville Spinners inside of Moor Park on Monday night, 6-1. The Pride fall to 3-2 on the young 2019 summer campaign.

Five different Pride batters registered hits on the night. Jason White and Mark Engel both picked up singles, while Scottie Lee and Bam Thomas each smacked doubles off the outfield wall. Richard De La Cruz picked up a broken bat RBI single in the top of the fifth inning.

Evan Mauldin got the start on the mound for the Red and Blue, going 3.0 innings deep, striking out five, and allowing two earned runs on one hit.

JT Wolke was great in another relief appearance out of the bullpen. In 6.0 innings of relief this summer, Wolke has recorded five strikeouts while only allowing three earned runs.

The combination of Dawson Gause and Kaleb Gibson finished the game off on the mound.

The Pride will be back in action tomorrow at York Comprehensive High School as SCBL opponent, the Lake Norman Copperheads come into town for the first time in the 2019 summer.
