Pride Offense Stagnant in First Loss of 2019

June 1, 2019

The Piedmont Kingsmen Baseball team suffered their first loss of the 2019 summer to the Carolina Vipers by a score of 4-1 at Charlotte Latin High School. The Red and Blue still sit atop the SCBL with a 3-1 record.

The Pride used a combination of three pitchers in the loss. Zach Smith got the start, throwing for 3.0 innings, striking out one and allowing two earned runs. Andre Hevesy was great for the Pride in relief, going 4.0 innings deep, allowing two earned runs, and striking out four.

Both teams collected six hits on the night. The only Red and Blue player to register a multi-hit game was first baseman Ben Sneider. Sneider also picked up his second RBI of the season.

Mark Engel, Tyler Estridge, and Ben Wetenhall all registered a hit respectively. Andrew Judkins stayed hot at the plate, going 1-for-1 and drawing two base on balls.

The Pride will return to action on Monday, June 3rd as they head to the friendly compounds of the Mooresville Spinners. In their first year as a member of the SCBL in 2018, The Spinners saw themselves crowned as league Post-Season champions.
