The Piedmont Pride used a five run 8th inning to take the lead and the victory over the Concord Athletics, 11-6 on Thursday night at York Comprehensive High School. The win improves the team’s record to 8-0 and ties the Carolina Vipers for first place in the SCBL.
The Athletics took an early lead in the first inning, striking for two runs. The Pride would answer in the bottom of the second on a Joe Sibeto single up the middle and cut into the lead.
The Red and Blue would tie the ball game up at 2-2 after a Josh Baker solo home run in the fourth inning. Bakers third home run of the year times him for the league lead in homers. The Pride would take the lead on a Kale Rhame single in the same inning and make it, 3-2.
The Athletics would tie the game back up at 3-3 in the top of the 5th. The Pride would put three more runs up on the board before the seventh inning making it 6-3.
Concord would tie the ball game back up at 6-6 in the top of the 8th after a three run inning. The Pride would answer in the bottom half of the inning with five runs of their own to make it 11-6. The Pride had three hits in the inning, all of them doubles coming from Kale Rhame, Joe Sibeto, and Mark Engel.
Joe Sibeto lead the way for the pride at the plate tonight going four for four with three RBI’s. Bryce Hensor continues to swing a hot stick going three for four with an RBI. Hensor has five hits in the last two games for the Red and Blue.
The Pride will head to take on the Top Prospects tomorrow, June 15th.
