The Piedmont Pride capped off their regular season with a 13-0 smashing of the Lake Norman Copperheads on Friday night at Hough High School. The Pride finish off the season at 26-9 finishing first for the third time in four years since joining the SCBL in 2015.

Pride pitching is catching fire at the right time. In the last 23 innings pitched (both games of the double header against the Spinners and the game tonight against the Copperheads) Pride pitching has only allowed three earned runs. “I think our guys are fully healthy and ready for the playoffs, it should be a fun week here coming up” said Coach Hudak after the game.

John Brocklebank got the start on the mound for the Red and Blue, throwing for 4.0 innings, allowing only one hit, and striking out three. Grayson Kemp came in to pitch in relief throwing 3.0 innings, allowing no hits, and striking out three. “It was nice to see Brocklebank and Kemp bounce back from tough outings their last time out” Coach Hudak had to say about his pitchers tonight.

At the plate The Pride got good game from Jared Gay going one for two with a walk and a three run home run. Gay’s sixth long ball of the summer puts him in third place in the SCBL in the category.

Robert Satcher also contributed in the win going three for four with two RBI’s. Jake Wright continues to swing a hot stick, hitting three for four with 3 RBI’s and a double.
