Pride Clinch SCBL Regular Season Champs With Sweep of Spinners

The Piedmont Pride took game one 6-3 and game two 2-0 to clinch the SCBL regular season title for the third time in four years. The Red and Blue used strong pitching to take both games as Jaret Peterson and Rhiann Mann both pitched well in their respective starts.

In game one The Pride combined for seven hits and put up six runs in a 6-3 win. The Red and Blue used five walks and two Spinner errors to help them as well. Kale Rhame went two for three with three RBI’s including a huge fifth inning two RBI double to put the Pride up 5-1.

Jaret Peterson threw for 3.0 innings, striking out five, and allowing one earned run. Grant Wagner would come in to throw 3.0 inning of relief allowing two earned runs, but striking out three batters. Nolan Wilson got the save in game one, throwing the final three outs in the top of the 7th, striking out two.

In game two The Pride struck first in the second inning on a Tyler Estridge RBI single to put the Red and Blue up, 1-0. The Pride would score their second run in the bottom of the third executing the Hudak Special double steal to perfection with two outs.

Rhian Mann got the start on the hill for The Pride. Mann threw for 3.1 innings, striking out five, while allowing only one hit. John Bakke would come in to pitch in the fourth inning with runners on second and third with only one out, slamming the door on the Spinners with two straight strikeouts.

Monty Horn got the save in game two pitching the ninth inning, striking out the side.
