York, SC – Kingsmen Baseball remained within striking distance in the SCBL standings by sweeping a doubleheader at York Comprehensive High School against the Concord Athletics with final scores of 3-2 and 11-3. The two wins place Kingsmen in sole possession of 2nd place and 1.5 games behind the Mooresville Spinners. A low-scoring game one saw both teams score two runs in the 2nd. The score would remain tied until the bottom of the 6th when Easton Cullison came through with an RBI single to drive in what would go on to be the winning run. Caleb Costa put together a dominant performance on the mound in game one to record the win while Cam McNearney pitched the final inning to earn the save. The Kingsmen took an early lead in game two with three runs in the 1st. Concord would respond with a run in the 2nd and two runs in the 3rd to tie up the score, but Kingsmen would reclaim the lead and pull away with a five-run 3rd and a three-run 4th. Pitching would take over for the final three innings, with the Kingsmen taking the eight-run win. Tyler Reynolds, who pitched a strong 2.2 innings in relief, was the winning pitcher.
Sawyer Reeves put together a strong game two with three hits, three RBIs, and two runs. Caleb Costa was dominant as the starter in game one, pitching 6.0 innings and allowing just one earned run on five hits and a walk while striking out two. Kingsmen will return to action on Wednesday, July 20th in another doubleheader.
