The Piedmont Kingsmen Baseball team remained a perfect 6-0 at home on Saturday night with a win at York Comprehensive High School against the Concord Athletics, 7-3.
Bam Thomas and Mark Engel both extended their hit streaks to seven games. Brayden Lyman paced the Pride offense going 3-for-4 and driving in two runs. Peter Brown also drove in two runs on the night for the Red and Blue.
Andre Hevesy got the start, throwing for 4.1 innings pitched, allowing two earned runs, and striking out five A’s. Kaleb Gibson struck out four in 2.2 innings of relief work.
The Athletics jumped on the board first in the top of the first, taking a a quick 2-0 lead. The Red and Blue would answer in the home half of the first, using a Brayden Lyman double to start the rally. Peter Brown would send his first home run of the season over the fence the very next pitch and the Pride had tied the game, 2-2.
Tyler Estridge stayed hot at the plate, taking the lead off of a two RBI single to give the Pride the lead, 4-2.
The Red and Blue would put up two more in the bottom of the second inning, using an Athletics error, and a Lyman RBI single to take a 6-2 lead.
The Pride will be back in action on Monday, June 17th as the Lenoir Oilers make their second trip to York Comprehensive High School.
