Peter Brown Homers Twice in Prides Rout of Oilers, 20-0

June 17, 2019

The Piedmont Kingsmen Baseball team scored 20 runs on 17 hits in a rout of the Lenoir Oilers on Monday night at York Comprehensive High School. With the win, the Pride move to 11-3 on the season, still atop the SCBL standings.

Peter Brown was the Pride player of the game, collecting five RBI’s on two home runs, including a grand slam in the fifth inning. Scottie Lee also sent his second home run over the left field fence, knocking a grand slam in the 12 run seventh inning.

Taylor Rohrer did not disappoint in his second start for the Red and Blue. The rising sophomore at Pasco Hernando Community College sat down four opposing batters via the strike out in 6.0 innings of work, allowing just two hits, and no earned runs. It is the first time this season that the Pride have posted a shut out.

Nine batters collected a RBI while three Pride batters hit a home run. Richard De La Cruz, Ben Wetenhall, Mark Engel, Ben Sneider, and Joe Sibeto all collected one RBI. Antonio Falbo and Bam Thomas drove in two runs, while Scottie Lee (four) and Peter Brown (five) both had tremendous games.

The Pride improve to 7-0 at home this season following the win. The Red and Blue will head to take on the Statesville Owls tomorrow night at West Iredell High School before returning home on Thursday for a double header against the Charlotte Crushers.
