“This is my first year with the Kingsmen, and I could not be any happier with my decision to come and play with these guys.
The friendships I have made this summer will truly last a lifetime. I have really enjoyed our mission trip to the Dominican Republic. It has been incredible to see the love and joy of God on display everywhere we go. Even though there is a language barrier between us, it has not stopped us from building relationships and finding ways to communicate.
Today, we went to Los Montones where we had the opportunity to pass out food bags to families in the village. It was such a blessing to serve alongside my teammates. One of my favorite parts of the day was that each of us had the chance to pray over a family after giving them food. Hearing the stories of how God has been moving in their lives and seeing the gratitude they have, despite so little, was incredibly humbling. My favorite part of the trip so far has been going to Boca de Chavón. Seeing the field and watching baseball being played in its purest form was something I will never forget. What made the experience even more special was having all the kids in the dugout with us and getting to talk with them throughout the game. I met a girl named Jeimmy, and she was so kind. She took us to the market down the third-base line to get a Kola Real, and later she took us to get ice cream in the middle of the game. Being able to spend that time with her was one of the highlights of my day because I had the opportunity to share my story, explain how God has worked in my life, and tell her about Jesus. At the end of the game, we handed out Bibles. I had one left over; and Jeimmy asked me what it was. After I explained it to her, I gave it to her, and she immediately began reading it. That moment really stuck with me. Even though we had to communicate through Google Translate, God still opened the door for us to connect and for me to share the gospel with her It was a powerful reminder that He can work through any barrier I am so grateful for this experience, and I cannot wait to see what else the Lord has in store for us.”
