Seven Pride Players Make the SCBL All-Star Team- 7/11/17

ROCK HILL- The Piedmont Pride (19-6) in the midst of another successful season, had another thing to celebrate as seven players were named to the SCBL All-Star team on Wednesday. The Pride has enjoyed great success this season, and has seen production from all the players on the team.

The seven Pride players will join the rest of the SCBL All-Stars at the Kannapolis Intimidators stadium for the Southeastern Collegiate Prospect Showcase on July 14-16. The SCBL will be joined by the Florida, Cal Ripken, Valley, and Sun Belt all-star teams. Each league will participate in a pro style workout on Friday July 14th. A dozen professional scouts will be in attendance for the weekend, which will include a round robin style tournament on Saturday July 15th and Sunday July 16th. Each league will compete to see which all-star team is the best.

Soph. Roury Glanton (Georgia Southern)- The heavy hitting outfielder has a great season so far. He is the league leader in batting average (.443), homeruns (10), and RBI’s (32), and runs scored (23).

Jr. Zach English (Lagrange College)- English has had a dominant season for the Pride. He leads the league in ERA (1.97) and is tied for second in strikeouts (34). English threw a no hitter June 10th against the Carolina Vipers.

Jr. Joe Campagna (Slippery Rock)- the right handed infielder has had great success at the plate this season. Campagna ranks fifth in the league in batting average (.389), tied for second in homeruns (6), and is second in RBI’s (32).

Fr. Cory Conway (Morehead St)- The left handed pitcher has had a great season for the Pride. He is fifth in the league in strikeouts (33) and is second on the team with wins (3).

Fr. Kitt Capell (Western Carolina)- Capell has been the rock behind the plate for the Pride this season. He leads the league in innings caught with 109.2. He leads the team in doubles (8) and is second on the team in batting average (.442).

Fr. Josh Baker (Morehead St)- An everyday starter at first base, Baker has been on a roll heading to the all-star break. He is currently on a four game hitting streak and has hit two homeruns and drove in five. Baker ranks fifth on the team in runs scored (15)

Soph. Cody Littlejohn (Tennessee Tech)- The third baseman had made some great plays with his glove this season. In 14 games played, Littlejohn is hitting .389, and has scored 14 runs to go along with 14 hits.
