Pride Score 16 Unanswered Runs, Defeat Copperheads 16-5

The Pride entered the fourth inning trailing, 5-0 to the Lake Norman Copperheads on Thursday night at Hough High School before scoring 16 unanswered runs to win 16-5. With the win the Red and Blue move to 15-2 on the season, and with the Vipers loss, move into sole possession of first place in the SCBL

The Copperheads scored four runs in the bottom of the second and answered with one more in the third to take a 5-0 lead on The Pride.

A Richard de la Cruz double lead off the top of the fourth for The Pride and a Mark Engel single moved over Cruz to third. A Jake Wright single would put the Red and Blue on the board. The Pride would rally and take the lead, 6-5 on three hits, and two walks.

The Pride would add four more in the top of the 7th to take a, 10-5 lead into the stretch.

In the eighth inning, The Pride would load the bases and Jake Wright would clear them with his second triple of the season. Jared Gay would take the lead league in home runs the next at bat sending a moon shot to deep left center for his fifth of the season.

The Pride would use a total of five arms on the mound tonight, with Jaret Peterson getting the win for the Red and Blue. Peterson came in to pitch in the bottom of the third with the bases loaded, allowing only one run and retiring three straight batters.

The Pride will head to take on the Lenoir Oilers tomorrow, June 30th with first pitch scheduled for 7 P.M.
