CHARLOTTE, NC- The Piedmont Pride (15-4) swept the Carolina Vipers (13-10) on the road Tuesday, behind six homeruns in the two games. Roury GlantonPreston KirkJake Wright, and Joe Campagna went yard in the two games, the Pride won 19-4 and 8-5.

Roury Glanton was the star of Game One going 5-5, 2 homeruns, 8 RBIs, and 4 runs. Glanton hit a solo homerun in the third and a grand slam in the fourth over the left field fence. His grand slam capped off a seven-run fifth inning that pushed the Pride lead to 16-4. Wright hit a three-run homerun in the first to blow the game open, and Kirk hit a two-run homerun to put the finishing touch on the blowout in the seventh.

The Pride saw production up and down the lineup as ten different players scored a run. Tommy Guglielmello pitched five strong innings and picked up his second straight win.

“Well I thought up and down the lineup in the first game we swung the bat real well. We stayed back and put a lot of good strokes on the ball, and scored a lot of runs,” Coach Joe Hudak said after the game.

Game Two saw more offense led by way of the long ball, as the Pride won a more competitive game 8-5. Joe Campagna gave the Pride the early lead with a solo homerun in the first inning. The game was close throughout, as the Vipers scored three runs in first, and held the lead until the fifth. The Pride would score seven unanswered runs in the final three innings, capped off by Campagna’s two-run blast in the seventh. The 8-3 lead was enough for Zach Shank to close out the game. Shank picked up the win in relief and Enrique Perez pitched five innings earning a no decision.

“I think Enrique was the key to the game. He threw very well and shut them down after giving up three runs in the first inning. He gave us a chance to get back into the game. We got some big hits and Zach Shank pitched well at the end,” Coach Hudak commented.

The Pride have now won six games in a row and will hit the road for a matchup with the Concord Athletics (8-14). The game from Concord High School will start at 7 pm.
