KINGSMEN RALLY LATE TO DEFEAT CATAWBA VALLEY

Kingsmen Baseball completed a come-from-behind victory to defeat the Catawba Valley Stars with a final score of 8-6 at Northwestern High School. Catawba Valley took an early lead in the 1st and extended the lead with an additional run in the 3rd before Andrew Sands tied things up with one swing of the bat, hitting a home run to bring in himself as well as Gavin Troyer. The Stars reclaimed the lead in the top of the 4th with three runs. Down by three, the Kingsmen would close the deficit with two runs in the bottom of the 6th including a ground-rule double by Vince Santostefano and an RBI by Cannon Jackson. After a scoreless 7th inning, the Kingsmen would claim its first lead of the game by scoring four runs in the bottom of the 8th. Catawba Valley was able to plate a run in the 9th, but the Kingsmen would hang on for the win as Zane Davis recorded the final out. Davis recorded the win by pitching the final two innings.

Vince Santostefano had a productive day at the plate, finishing with three hits including two doubles and two runs scored. Andrew Sands recorded two hits including a home run and two RBIs.

The Kingsmen will return to action on Friday, July 5th at Northwestern High School against the Catawba Valley Stars.
