KINGSMEN DROP SEASON OPENER TO SPINNERS

Mooresville, SC – The 2022 season opener in Mooresville, North Carolina ended with a 7-0 loss to the Mooresville Spinners on Friday evening. Mooresville led the night in hits while holding Kingsmen to just one hit for the evening. A two-run 1st inning gave the Spinners a quick 2-0 lead. They would then pull away further in the 4th with five additional runs. Garrett Casey entered the game to pitch the 5th inning and would go on to record two shutout innings while allowing just one hit and two walks while also striking out two. Mathieu Curtis and Cam McNearney pitched shutout 7th and 8th innings to keep the deficit at bay. Connor Kolarov, who started the game on the mound, was charged with the loss. Offensively, Johnny Sweeney recorded Kingsmen’s only hit of the game and also drew a walk. Gavin Phillips was the only Kingsmen hitter not to post a strikeout, putting the ball in play during all three of his at-bats.

Kingsmen will return to action on Monday, June 6th to face the Spinners at home in York, South Carolina.
