KINGSMEN COMPLETE SOLID ROAD TRIP

June 19, 2024

The Kingsmen Baseball team embarked on their first road trip of the season this past weekend. They got the trip started on a great note with a 17-6 thrashing of the Queen City Corndogs. The boys pounded out 17 hits to go along with those 17 runs. Paul Colombo (Honey Brook, PA) led the way with a single, a grand slam homerun, and 5 RBI. Davis Anders (Franklin, NC) added 2 singles, a double, and 3 RBI, while Vince Santostefano (Chapin, SC) chipped in with 2 singles and 3 RBI. Matthew Makowski (Charlotte, NC) had 2 singles and a double. Nick Osborne (Sharpsville, PA) got the win, throwing 4 innings of 3-hit baseball.

Friday night saw the Kingsmen travel to Raleigh, NC and suffer their first loss of the summer, falling to the Holly Springs Salamanders of the Coastal Plain League by a score of 11-2. It was one of those games where nothing went right for the Kingsmen.

The men of the King returned to their winning ways Saturday with a hard-fought, back and forth, 5-4 victory over the Fuquay-Varina Twins. Aidan Bisbano was the hitting star for the Kingsmen, driving in 4 of their 5 runs. The boys trailed 3-1 after 5 innings. Bisbano laced a 2-out, 2-run single in the top of the sixth to tie the game 3-3. After the Twins scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to take a 4-3 lead, Bisbano came through again in the top of the eighth, lining a 2-run double down the left-field line. Righthander Zane Davis slammed the door on the Twins to earn the win, throwing 4 2/3 innings of 1-run baseball. The Kingsmen finished the weekend with a 7-1 record.

The Kingsmen return to action Tuesday evening at 6:30 at York HS against the Catawba Valley Stars. They travel to Forest City, NC to play the Forest City Owls Wednesday at 6:30, and return home to face the Queen City Corndogs Thursday at 6:30.
