KINGSMEN BEGIN BUSY WEEK WITH WIN OVER CONCORD

June 22, 2022

York, SC – Kingsmen Baseball started off a busy week with a 7-2 victory over the Concord Athletics this evening at York Comprehensive High School. Nine of Kingsmen’s ten starters recorded at least one hit while the pitching staff was able to limit the Athletics to just two runs on five hits and five walks. Julian Parson took the mound for the start of the game and went on to pitch the first 4.0 innings, allowing just two hits and three walks. Kingsmen would effectively turn to smallball throughout the 3rd inning, putting together multiple bunt singles and going on to score three runs with RBIs coming from Luke Jenkins and Dalton Reeves. Pitching took over for the next four innings before Kingsmen added a run in the 7th by way of a stolen base. In the 8th, Concord would get on the board for the first time in the game, scoring two runs. However, Kingsmen would open the lead back up to five with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning by way of a two-RBI double by Cam McNearney. Justin Stewart took the mound to close out the game. After allowing a leadoff single, Stewart would retire the next three batters to end the game with Kingsmen taking it by five. Julian Parson was the winning pitcher. Burke Camper, Aidan Rice, and Anthony Mitta each posted two hits throughout the night.

Kingsmen will return to action tomorrow at York Comprehensive High School in a home game against the Carolina Vipers.
