York, SC – Kingsmen Baseball improved to a 4-2 record this evening at York Comprehensive High School with a 6-5 victory in ten innings over the Copperheads of Lake Norman. The first four innings went by quickly without a run crossing the plate before Kingsmen pitching ran into some trouble in the top of the 5th. Lake Norman would put up three runs in the inning, all unearned due to an error in the inning. Kingsmen would get on the board in the bottom of the inning with an unearned run of their own with an RBI single by Cam McNearney. Another run would score in the bottom of the 6th when Luke Jenkins hit an RBI double. However, Lake Norman would respond in the top of the 7th with two runs to extend the lead back to three. Still down by three in the bottom of the 9th, Kingsmen would ultimately tie the game thanks to pitching troubles by the Copperhead pitching staff. With four walks and a hit by pitch in the inning, Kingsmen would get three runs across to force extra innings. After a three up, three down inning by Lake Norman, Kingsmen would get their turn and make the most out of it as a Gavin Phillips single would put the winning run on base. Anthony Mitta would hit a single of his own to get Phillips to third before Justin Stewart would be the hero as he would hit a walk-off single through the infield to bring in the winning run. Anthony Mitta led the night in hits for Kingsmen with two while Jordan Thurmond recorded the win with 3.0 no-hit innings.

Kingsmen will return to action tomorrow at York Comprehensive High School against the Mooresville Spinners at 7:00 PM.
