July 21 – Joe Hudak

“After taking my 18th team to the Dominican Republic, I am writing my very first blog about the trip. I have to say that my real enjoyment comes from reading the player blogs. I have been here many, many times, but it is so very cool to read about the impact this trip has had on them.

It seems like every year that I feel that the current trip is the best one. I guess that is only natural. However, I do believe that this year’s trip was the most impactful spiritually. We had five players make a first time commitment to live for Christ and four players recommit their lives to Christ. Of the five first time commitments, four happened at different times and under different circumstances. Three of them were the direct result of teammates sharing with and encouraging them. That was very cool.

The icing on the cake for me personally was seeing my son, Preston, get baptized. To see how God has changed his life and blessed him is truly remarkable. Then to have Nick Osborne, a young man who I truly consider my adopted son, get baptized as well was very fulfilling for me. It was amazing to see Nick transformed from someone who had no interest in God or Christ when he joined our team last summer into a man truly committed to serving God.

There is so much more I could write in this first blog but I am already over the suggested number of words so I’ll close by saying how honored I was to lead this group of young men.”
