1st Year Kingsmen Player
“For this being my first year on the Kingsmen, I can gladly say that this is what I expected and more. This summer has meant more to me and my family than I could ever imagine.
Starting this season I was excited to play every game but nothing made me more excited than getting to go to the Dominican Republic for the first time in the last decade. Being Dominican and being a family oriented person, that meant a lot to me and especially when I got to go on a mission trip to get closer to my faith.
This summer has made me take big steps towards my goal in my faith, and the biggest steps were taken here in the Dominican Republic. Getting to share my culture with my team and getting to see sides of it that I have never seen has a special place in my heart. Seeing the faces of all the kids brighten up every time we come in because they either remember us or are eager to play with us, and we are eager to get to know them and help them understand who God is. Sharing Bibles with them was a special way to connect with them.My favorite parts of the trip were the boys’ orphanage and getting to unexpectedly see my family who lives here. These two moments have helped me realize why God put me on this team. Getting to share the word of God with children who are always happy to see new faces no matter what situation they are, while also seeing how connected I feel to my family through God has made me show a side of myself that hasn’t come out in a while.
That is the power of God and how he can use every situation you or someone else is in to teach you life lessons that you never knew you needed.”
