“This is my second summer with the Kingsmen and I’m glad that I’m back. We had an extra trip planned this year going to Alaska in addition to the DR so I thought that would be fun. I came in with the mindset this summer of continuing past friendships, gaining new ones, continuing to grow in Christ and to find a new home school wise. I don’t know how, but I felt like we’ve played more games but the summer feels shorter than it was last year. Back in the states, I saw more new faces than familiar ones but was glad to meet these new guys. I instantly became friends with some of them and developed friendships I know are going to last awhile. Being in the DR again brings up a lot of memories from last year with returners about how a lot of the new guys shared qualities of people that didn’t come back this summer, but all the best ones. This is only my second time in the DR with this team but the team this year just jumped into everything so quick. Not just going through the motions when we’d be at orphanages or day cares but truly enjoying themselves with these kids. In the bible studies too, the energy is multitudes stronger. Even though this trip is halfway done I’m excited to see just what else there is to be shown in our bible studies and in the work we do for others down here.”
