“This has been a great experience for me and I’ve enjoyed all the new people I’ve got to meet this summer through the Kingsmen. One thing that really sticks out to me on this trip to the Dominican is the people here. Everyone is so grateful for what they have and it’s really helped open my eyes how fortunate we really are. During my time here I met the son of the guy that takes care of where we are staying and he works with his dad also. We have played catch together and shot pool and also played soccer together. After talking with him I learned he is only 16 years old and is already working a full time job. I can say that he has had a big impact on me since being here and being around him and his father have really showed me how important friends and family are in the culture here. Our translator Keke has also had a big impact on me as well he’s a great example of someone who has had a lot of adversity in his life but still managed to stay faithful to God and trust his plan for us, and I think that’s something we could all learn from. Overall this has been a really eye opening trip for me and I have learned a lot about how God has a plan for all of us no matter what.”
