“This trip has meant the world to me. Before I came here, I thought that just being a good person would get me to heaven, but that is not the case. It finally hit me the first night in the Dominican Republic that this is serious, and I need to change some things up. I have had some great conversations with even better people, and it has changed my whole perspective on life. We went to the girls orphanage the other day, and I have no doubt that will be the highlight of this trip for me. The girls there are so kind and genuine. Two of the girls that I hung out with last year remembered me and came up and gave me a hug as soon as we got there. I used Google Translate to communicate with them, and they told me how much us coming down here meant to them. Belkis is the name of one of the girls, and she told me she kept the bracelet and the ball I signed and gave to her last year. That meant the world to me. In conclusion I will remember this trip for the rest of my life and will be thankful for everyone that made it possible for me to be here.”
