The Pride scored double digit runs for the second straight game and a nine run first inning highlighted a stomping of the Charlotte Prospect, 18-5. The offense combined for ten hits and the pitching staff put together a nice night on the mound, allowing four hits. The Red and Blue move to (3-0) on the season and are tied for first place atop the SCBL with the Carolina Vipers (3-0).
The Prospects got a lone run in the top of the first inning, the only time The Pride have trailed in any of their games this season so far. The Pride answered and showed why they are one of the best offensive teams in the league this year putting up nine runs in the bottom of the first on five hits.
The Pride would add to their lead in the 2nd inning off a Jared Gay solo home run. Gay’s first of the season was a no-doubter and the left fielder didn’t even turn his heels. Josh Baker would join the home run party in the 4th inning with his second long ball of the year.
The offense would put up runs in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings and take a commanding 18-5 victory.
The duo of Josh Baker and Jared Gay combined for six hits and seven RBI’s in the contest.
The Pride sent out Rhian Mann to the bump to start the game, and he threw for 2.2 innings allowing two hits and giving up one earned run. Jaret Peterson would come in for relief work in the 5th inning and shut The Prospects down. Peterson threw for 4.2 inning, allowing one hit and striking out five opponents.
The Pride will take tomorrow off and be back on the field at York Comprehensive High School on June 7th when they take on the Moorseville Spinners with first pitch scheduled for 7 P.M.
