July 17 – Nick Osborne

July 20, 2024

This summer has been nothing short of life changing. All throughout my life, I was someone who did not know much about Christ and even tried to push him out of my life at certain points. When I was approached about playing for the Kingsmen, I told Coach Hudak I wasn’t a big Christian and in my head, I was coming to just play baseball. When we had our first Bible study, I told myself I would give it a chance, and what I didn’t know at the time was that it was the best decision I have ever made. Through each Bible study I learned that Jesus doesn’t care who you are and what you’ve done in your past, because he will always be waiting for you. And through each Bible study, I felt myself growing closer with him. At each game, it was amazing to me to see how many people thanked us for what we were doing, even though we were simply playing the game we love and spreading the good news about Jesus Christ. Coming to the Dominican, you see right away that people down here make light in the smallest things. Visiting the girls and boys orphanage was amazing because you realize how important it is to have faith, because if these kids have faith in Jesus and trust in his plan, why shouldn’t I. Visiting the sugar cane village was stunning too, but in a good way. We got to deliver food bags to some of the people living there, and one lady had simply just come up to us and said “God is good.” When we finished up our third game, none of the kids spoke English, but as soon as Jesus was mentioned all the boys around me said “Amen”, which gave me goosebumps because most of these guys were living with nothing, yet knew God had his hand on their shoulder and was still guiding them through tough times. Seeing this made me realize that just me knowing about Christ was not good enough. So in one of our last couple Bible studies, I made the commitment to start living for Christ and accepting him not only as my savior, but as my lord. I want to thank Coach Hudak, my teammates, and Kingsmen baseball for this life changing summer, because without them I would’ve never been able to turn my life around and start living for Christ.
