Kingsmen Baseball returned to York Comprehensive High School and emerged victorious over the Catawba Valley Stars with a final score of 12-8 on Tuesday Night. The Kingsmen jumped on the Stars early on and continued to pull away throughout the middle innings and take a 12-3 lead after seven innings. However, things would get interesting as the Stars were able to close the deficit with two runs in the 8th and three more in the 9th. The combination of TJ Provenzano, Henry Malarski and Tyler Kamerer were able to record the final three outs to preserve the win, with Kamerer recording the save. Will O’Shields, who pitched 4.1 innings and allowed just two earned runs, was the winning pitcher.
Matthew Makowski put together a solid evening, going two for three at the plate with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Josh Watson finished with two hits including a double as well as three runs batted in, a walk, and a run scored.
The win improves the team’s record to 8-1 for the season. Tomorrow, the Kingsmen will take on the Forest City Owls in Forest City, North Carolina.
