FLORENCE, S.C. — The Kingsmen led from beginning to end at Carolina Bank Field on Saturday, wrapping up the month of May with a convincing 10-1 win over the Florence Flamingoes.
Starting pitcher Dalton Bisbano was excellent, striking out ten hitters of the twenty he faced. Bisbano, in his first appearance of the season, was credited for the win after throwing 4.1 innings in the start.
At the plate, the lineup did its job, notching back-to-back three run innings to put the game out of reach. In fact, every Kingsmen hitter in the top six of the batting order had at least one hit, on their way to ten runs on eleven total hits.
Josh Jackson continued his early-season rampage at the plate, reaching in four of his five plate appearances. After hitting a triple in the previous at-bat, Jackson crushed the Kingsmen’s first home run of the season in the sixth inning, falling over the left-center field fence.
Fireworks boomed in the night sky of Florence post-game after the Flamingoes’ home opener, but according to head coach Joe Hudak, they didn’t compare to the Kingsmen’s fireworks on the field.
The Kingsmen take the next two days off before hosting the Catawba Valley Stars on Tuesday at York Comprehensive High School, their final contest before departure to Alaska.
